Do-It-Yourself

“WordPress” is a very popular blogware program tool that can be installed on your internet domain using open source tools in the Software/Services section of your cPanel.  WordPress is used by many to manage their website content in lieu of using one of the thousand available theme templates or installing one of the more sophisticated Content Management Systems.

This is an example of a WordPress page, you could edit this to put information about yourself or your site so readers know where you are coming from. You can create as many pages like this one or sub-pages as you like and manage all of your website content inside of WordPress.  User friendly, non-technical—no programming skills are needed (user supported forum is at wordpress.org)This is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:

Hi there! I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my blog. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.)

…or something like this:

The XYZ Doohickey Company was founded in 1971, and has been providing quality doohickies to the public ever since. Located in Gotham City, XYZ employs over 2,000 people and does all kinds of awesome things for the Gotham community.

If you install WordPress on your internet domain (a.k.a., website), you will find a page just like this one, also called “Sample Page”.   When you installed WordPress you had to enter a user id and a password … yes, there is another control panel, but WordPress calls their panel a Dashboard.  Have fun!

A link to the online help forum for WordPress will appear on the home page of your installation.  To go there now, click HERE.
